280 grain .454 data
« on: September 01, 2004, 09:35:50 AM »
Greetings, :D

My 6" FA .454 is coming in the mail. I'm getting some of those new 280 grain Beartooth bullets. Anyone got any ideas on any loading data? I think 1350 f.P.S. should be good enough for whitetail hunting and pop can shooting. I'm really getting sexcited.......

Thanks

Kid

23grs to 24grs of H110 should give you exactly the velocity that you are looking for and should be a very accurate low recoiling load. I use this amount of powder and 45 colt brass with 300gr jacketed bullets in my 454 Casull Super Redhawk when I want this kind of velocity.

All of the powder manufactures have web pages with loading data, and that is where I suggest you get your data from. You can use data for jacketed bullets with cast bullets but not data for casr bullets with jacketed bullets. I`m pushing 300 grn. jacketed bullets at 1,500 fps. with Win.-296. Win.-296 and H-110 are almost identical and you want to stay very close to max. loads with these powders. I usually use 296 because I can buy it cheaper and I burn up alot of powder.
