well the gun shoots good....
« on: September 01, 2004, 12:24:58 PM »
A few weeks ago I left a post complaining of accuracy with my 44mag SuperRedHawk. Got it back from the manufacturer, put a 2X leupold and my first five shots with winchester 240gr were in a 2in group. My own reloads with titegroup also grouped well. The gun can problaby can due better but i don't consider myself a real crackshot

I am contimplating sending mine to Ruger.
How was your experiance with Ruger.
What repairs did they do to yours and what was the turn around time .
Sorry for all the Questions but just wondering what i would be in for sending mine in for work.

I've sent it back twice. The first time I didn't know what was wrong just that it shot way to the left(2 ft at 25yd) and couldn't it on target even with the iron sight moved all the way to the right and also couldn't get any grouping. First return from the factory it came back and shot the same way although the trigger was outstanding!! Two gunsmiths told me the barrel wasn't straight into the frame....at first I didn't believe them but on close inspection with a straight edge on the frame, in fact the barrel was off to the left. I described this in a letter on the second return and they worked on the crane and may have replaced the barrel as well and it is grouping ok. As far as their service and return it was fairly quick.
