Anyone tried the Accutip?
« on: September 01, 2004, 05:05:40 PM »
Has anyone used the new Remington Accutip bullet? If so, how did it perfrom on deer?  I am thinking about trying them in my 7mm-08.

Anyone tried the Accutip?

I have not shot a deer with one yet but I have shot a couple boxes of them...I tried the 150gr 7mm Rem Mag and both groups I shot from my bench(one group per box) were about .5" at 100 yards. using a Ruger M77...
They are almost worthless when fired through brush, so if you choose to hunt with them, I would stick to open shots or make sure the deer is "immediately" behind the brush....free-handed I get consistent groups of 1" with them at 100 Yards and they hold pretty tight out to 450 yards...I have not shot the Accutips any farther than that...
I like the Remington CORE-LOKT ULTRA better myself, but I don't think Remington loads the ULTRA in 7mm08.

Stay Safe. Happy Hunting/Shooting.  :D
