Muzzy 3 blade insertion?
« on: September 04, 2004, 05:45:14 AM »
Hey guys,

I saw on the broadhead topic that a lot of you use muzzys.  I picked some up yesterday, but could use a little help on putting them together.

If I understand correctly each blade actually goes into the aluminum base?  I started on one, but thought I'd better get some experienced insight before I mess up a base or worse yet, a finger.  If you've got a trick or some insight into seating the blades please post it.

Thanks,
JCM

There is a little knack to it since the blades have to slide in from the point end and overlap with each other.  Remember the whole "v" part of the blade goes behind the section of the broadhead body.  Then slow and when you feel a little resistance (a/c of the roughness of the body and blades, take your time.  It is not a good time of year to get stiches.

I had a rough time getting mine to work tried everything,  i went to muzzys web sight  and  they gave better instructions on how  to do it.  those blades are very sharp one dropped  and  landed on my left index finger  and cut  it  bad enough to where it  bled  for an hr,  now  i know  why  i bought these over mechanicals   they are sharp.  anyways  i figured out   that you insert one blade  turn it a hlf a turn  then insert the other  than turn it  a  half a turn again and insert the other once  you get the system down  they  go in easy

Yeah, I just had the wrong angle.  I got them turned a little more and it was simple.

..."It is not a good time of year to get stiches."...  LOL  What time of the year is good for stiches?

Thanks to both of you.

There is a good graphic in the Cabela's master catalog within the Muzzy broadhead page. It shows a point-down view of the blade insertion that I found useful.
