To me this is the biggest election of my life, honestly. There is no telling what else Bush will do in the next four years if reelected. Within 2 years I'll be 18. If this "WAR ON TERROR" is still going on I my have to go. Kerry is no better though. Frankly both have no business being in office. They both lie like a rug. The only thing I support that Bush is for is his views on gun rights. But some of the "LAWS" that Bush has passed or rediculous for one would be the "The Patriot Act" this is just complete crap. I'll tell you what if you will recite me one page of this so called law and actually understand it I'll give $100. It is practically impossible to read the 342 page "LAW". You would have to go back and write down every law passed within the last century and then finally set down and look at the Patriot Act. I may not be able to vote in this election but this one will efect greatly in the next two years.

I certainly agree with you and HATE the thought of Kerry being sworn in as CIC.

As for the biggest defeat that would be the 1984 election when Reagan beat Mondale by taking 48 of the 50 states. As for other than Presidential elections the Republican Revolution of 1994 led by Newt Gingritch tops my list.

Varminter, you are very young and like most of us were, you are probably somewhat idealistic.  I don't want to rain on your idealism, but you will find that there never has been and there never will be a perfect presidential candidate.  You will always have to pick the best of what is offered with all his/her faults and warts.

There are no perfect laws either and often the situation we find ourselves in, requires certain actions that no one relishes.  I don't have to remind you that we are at war with an enemy that has no particular country and doesn't fight in a conventional manner.  This calls for special laws and proceedures that might intrude somewhat on our traditional liberties.  In the rush to do something, even if it's wrong, the Congress will make laws that might prove to need adjustment as time goes on.  All we can hope for is that the people we elect to govern us, will try their best to do the right thing.

You say that both Kerry and Bush lie like a rug; I think that impression comes from what you hear and see from the media.  Right now, you had better get used to and understand that the media is the main source of lies and distortions.  I try to give people, including politicians, a little slack and believe they will try to be truthful, but I realize that what some people might think is the truth, might in fact turn out to be a load of crap.

With all the issues and situations that politicians have to deal with, it is very hard to always have a black or white truth.  What a lot of people are accusing President Bush of lying about are actually issues that he had to make a decision about, with the best information he had at the time.  He doesn't have the luxury of perfect knowledge or for that matter, perfect judgement.  You have to believe that the President is being advised by the best people he can surround himself with and in the end, his decisions are made for this country with the best of intentions.

The bottom line is that both President Bush and John Kerry are decent Americans and I'm sure they love this country as much as anyone and they want the best for this country, as we all do.  In this case though, I think President Bush has the edge in what he believes is the right thing to do.  He has proved that he can make a decision and stick with it.

magooch,
I believe we are all idealistic to a certain extent. But neither of these canidates should be in office. I know what you're thinking "he's to young to know what he's talking about" well yes I am young but i have researched this pretty throughly. I know this is not a good time to rely on the media for accurate information concerning the two, but Bush has passed so many so called laws that are just unconstitutional or just frankly unjust. Did you know that under the PATRIOT ACT that government agents (now I'm not gonna say FBI or CIA or etc. b/c I'm not which it would be) can come in your home without you being there and search through your home and not even have to tell you that they have been there. Now doesn't that seem just ALITTLE unconstitutional to you. Now wasn't there something in constitution has that protects against illegal search and seizure; but now under the PATRIOT ACT they can do what ever they want and never have to tell you that they did it. Yeah, he may have passed just after 9/11 to "PROTECT THE COUNTRY" but all it actually did was take away any rights we have left. Under the Bush administration the CONSTITUTION is just a piece of paper to wipe their a$$ on.

Now with that said about Bush on to Kerry. As for Kerry I don't know as much about him as I do Bush but there is something I just do not trust. Kerry has done things I do not agree with. After he returned from vietnam he threw his medals at the White House. To me that is a sign of treason. He was there and knew what it was like but yet he turned his back on his fellow armed forces members that were still there. I think the Vietnam War was pointless but still would have supported or troops that were there. Just like today I supported Bush's action to go to Afghanistan, but his decision to go to Iraq I did not but I still support the troops that are over there fighting. I have a friend that is in training right now as we speak and about another 2 weeks he will be leaving for Iraq. There is just something about Kerry I do not trust but I can't put my finger on it.

I'd suggest young man you go back and do a bit more of that research you say you've done into this matter.

The Executive branch does not pass laws. The Congress Passes laws, the Judicial interprets them and the Executive branch enforces them. So please don't blame bush for ANY law passed by Congress. He didn't pass it. Congress did.

I loathe it as much or more than you. I firmly believe it to be Unconstitutional and I think Bush was wrong for supporting it and asking Congress to pass it. I think the Supreme Court is equally guilty for not having over turned it.

I realize desperate times call for desperate measures. BUT taking away the rights of US Citizens for the acts of foreigners is NOT justice in any shape form or fashion nor will it make the US any safer.

The passage of the Patriot Act was a knee jerk reaction of the Congress and by the sheeple[meaning us] screaming that they want some action and expect the government and law enforcement to protect them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With the disarming of America and guns being villianized by the media we have become unable to protect ourselves. Everyone of us has to bare some responsibility for the passing of this law. As long as we have open borders and freely encourage the people of the world to come to this great nation a certain percent of them will come to do these acts of terrorism. Then you have corruption. A big bundle of money is all it takes to get by some security check point and by that time it's to late. George Bush has made a few mistakes but I sure feel a lot safer with him doing the job than I would ever feel with John Kerry being president. :gulp:  :D

powderman, you couldn't be more wrong. My parents are republicans.

Nightrain,
As for the protection from terroist all i need is what's in my gun safe in my closet. I don't need the government to pass some bullsh*t law saying their gonna protect me when all the new law will do is confiscate my guns and leave me defenseless. If we leave up to them I look for this country to be under communist rule in the next 50 years. As for 9/11 ever since that happened the Bush administration has been using that as THE excuse to pass anything and everything they want. EXAMPLE: "BUSH ADMIN.: LETS GO TO WAR WITH IRAQ.    CONGRESS: WHY?   BUSH ADMIN.: 9/11. It's been proven that Sadam Huesien had nothing absolutely nothing to do with Osama Bin Laden. Osama was against the ways of Sadam. It just proves that the sheep in congress don't think for themselves. They are all republicans so they say "this was made by our fellow republicans so it must be okay to pass."Their are countries around the world that have terrorist attacks almost on a weekly basis and you don't see them running into hiding and not going outside b/c they are afraid; they live life like they normally would. One attack happens in this country and we're "running around like a chicken with its head cut off". I'll admit i was sad for all the families that lost loved ones in the attack but for the must part I was pissed. 9/11 did bring the country back together but it should take something like that for it to happen. By using 9/11 as their excuse the Bush admin. can get almost everything passed by congress they want and its time for that to end.

I was under the impression we attacked Iraq because of the failure of the UN weapons inspectors being allowed to do their jobs. Saddam Hussein was given several warnings about what would happen if he refused so GW did what he said he would do. These terrorist cells are located all over the Middle Eastern countries and the US appears to be the only country willing to hunt them down and stop them before they get to our shores. I would rather we hunt them down over there than to wait till they make it to our country. Yes I too would fight to the end if need be but gun owners can't do it by themselves. I have no doubt many members here would stand elbow to elbow to prevent a meltdown of our principles heavily armed and prepared to give all. But today in this politicly correct society gun owners are thought of as nuts and in the sheeples minds. We are the last line of defense if the SHTF. And then you have the democrats[ John Kerry ] included that wants to turn this country over to UN control. When they do that they have already stated they will totaly disarm the US. We can no longer be passive or complacent politicly. In just a few more years you will be able to get out and vote. Don't let this opportunity pass you by and do nothing. All the issues must be weighed against each other and hopefully a voter can make his decisions responsibly. We live in America where we are free to vote for the candidate of our choice. Every year for the last 30 years I have seen more and more of our rights taken away. It's time for us to say enough is enough. :money:  :D

Varminter;
In your first post in this thread yuou complained about the war on terror, saying,
"within two years I'll be eighteen. If this "WAR ON TERROR" is still going on I may have to go."

Is that really what your whole complaint boils down to?

Sounds a lot like the words I heard in the "sickly sixties", when some idiots were running riot in the streets.

That same croud didn't mind, till they faced an  opportunity to "serve" instead of "take".

They were only worried about their OWN hides..

So you serve at eighteen...I did , and millions before you did..

There are many fine men and women about that age that are already serving in combat zones...

I don't believe you REALLY want preferential treatment!!  especially since you already know that many young WOMEN of about that age are serving honorably in combat zones!

My own grandson is in the Marines, and is proud and happy to be so...all part of becoming a man (he turned 20 during his test in the "crucible").
      ....consider it a rite-of-passage...

A privileged thjing to do upon embarking toward manhood...

I think it's true to say that none of us want to fight in a war. But if the time comes and i have to so be it. i want no special treatment. If i were alive during the 1960s during the vietnam war i would have serve if me time had come i wouldn't have supported it but i wouldn't have been a "draft dodger".

My complaint is not about the war. There has been things Bush has lied about and laws passed by the republicans that just shouldn't have been passed. Now i know there is always some failures during every presidency, there is just no excuse for some of the things Bush has done.
If you ask me if I support the war in Iraq I would have to give you an honest answer of NO but i do support our troops. I'm not gonna be like the protesters of the 60s and call them babykillers and all that; I'll support them to the best of my ability.

Varminter, I admire your youthful certitude, but I hope you will be patient and open minded enough to at least consider that perfect knowledge has not yet been attained by any of us.  Please allow that those who are in government have many varied opinions and are as patriotic as you are.

I applaud you for having and expressing your opinion, but a little humility and reserve will almost always serve you well.  You are doomed to a very frustrating life if you expect things to always go your way

I'm guessing that most people your age don't know or care much about the issues of our time, so you are probably miles ahead of your peers.  Keep up the interest, but do give it a chance to manure.

I read some more on John Kerry's view on gun rights he voted for a bill to be passed that would outlaw semi-auto weapons. Shotguns, SKSs etc.
I guess if i could vote it have to be for Bush simply on the fact that he is a conservative, his views on gun rights, and his religious views.

There something about Kerry that I just dont trust but I can't put my finger on it.

You guys are doin' a great job soapin' this kid up.

Maybe by the time he's 18 he'll let ya'll use that that big Republicrat plank on him.

Bush, Kerry, and all of their cronies consider the average American to be nothing more than livestock, to be born, raised, educated, milked, and slaughtered at their command, for their pleasure, and for their benefit.

Don't swallow that BS about there being smarter people than you knowing what is best.  That's the way slaves are raised.

Read the Constitution, kid.  Make up your own mind whether or not the current government is what it was intended to be.  You decide for yourself whether or not that machine is operating inside or outside of the letter and the spirit of the law.

You need to think for yourself.  You know the difference between right and wrong.

Is this government taking YOUR country where YOU think it needs to go?
They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

So Mr. Wizard, you're saying that the Constitution is a poor source of reference, and that those who refer to it for guidance are traitors?

Your vote for Bush won't be wasted.
They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

I cant say that I have ever voted for the person who would be the best. It always seems that I'm forced to vote for the lesser of two evils. I dont agree with Bush 100%, but I sure dont agree about anything with Kerry. You think things are a mess now.......just wait until the hinz lady is running the show.
