SBH .44 Mag. Accuracy ?
« on: September 04, 2004, 01:40:35 PM »
I just got back from the range.
SBH .44 Mag. 7.5"
Magtech 240gr. JSP
23.5gr. H-110
CCI Mag. primer
Accuracy was 2-2.5" @ 50yd. Scoped
Is this exceptable accuracy and is this a good Bullet choice.
I am hoping so as they are only $8.00 a hundred

Well, it's certainly "minute of deer" out to fifty yards.  Have you shot this load at 100 yards as well?  Is 23.5 grains the only or first charge you have tried?

I have not shot this particular brand of bullet, so I can't say how good the quality is.  You need to shot a deer or three before you can start forming a real opinion on how they perform.  I will say, I've tried the XTP, Remington SJHP, and Sierra HP and all have worked well.

MS Hitman:
These were the first loads I tried 23-23.5 gr.
Two groups of each.
I am going to try 23.5 and 24gr. next
Have not shot load a@ 100yd.
I also have some Rem. 240 SJSP to try
Any suggestions ?

The Rem. bullet has shot very well for us using 24 grs. of H-110. Haven't taken any game with it.

You may want to consider using a hard cast heavy bullet such as the 300g WFNGC made by LBT and others.  With a sufficient load of H110 or Lil'Gun it will drive thru a deer and produce a terrific wound channel.
