« on: September 05, 2004, 06:14:29 AM »
Has anyone had any experance with these bullets,I'm thinking of trying them for deer and a boar hunt in a couple of days.

By the way i'm shooting them in a 7mm stw with a 1"group sometimes less it depends on me.

Thanks  :D

Deer sure. Boar? No way, not from a 7STW. Likely to act like grenades at that velocity. If you just gotta shoot such a gun then you need to accept that premium bullets go with the territory.

I might consider the new Interbond 154 or a Nosler PT or Accubond of 160 grains or more. If you were shooting a 7x57 or 7-08 then I'd say sure go for it but be careful of shot placement. But not with a 7STW.

Those SST's will be shrapnel all over a big pig with the caliber and velocity you are shooting, like GB said.  Go with a bonded bullet or the Partition.

You folks are likely right about the 7mm STW, but I'm here to tell you that out of a plain old 7x57 the 154 grain Hornady will break the pelvic girdle and the next 12" of backbone. It'll also give a half inch exit wound and a bloodtrail Doc Watson could follow on a straight through the lungs shot on 100 pound whitetail.
