« on: September 06, 2004, 05:09:25 PM »
i have a 17v marlin rifle that i really like , but the shells r a little expensive. now i got a friend that has offered me a 7000 marlin .22 rifle to trade even and we will keep our scopes. i had a 7000 1 time and regreted getting rid of ever since. what would u guys do. really need some opinions from u all. i could shoot the 7000 more but the 17 has a lot more power. and i really like to plink and target practice. please hepl me make a decision..thanks in advance....

If it is just for fun, then more tan likely the .22lr would be better..........but for precise target shooting I would say the 17hmr is a little better (but just a lil)...........but based on ammo price you can shoot 500 rounds for the same amount of money it cost for 50 rounds of 17hmr.  Also, vthe 17hmr gun cost a slight bit more than the .22 based on marlin's gallery og guns price.........just my 2 cents, but i am looking into buying a new .22 and it seems to be ethe most economical, and can be VERY accurate out to maybe 100 yards (perfect for 50 IMO).

Great decision ... just so happens I have both too. I shoot the 17V a lot more these days.
