Has anyone used Kifaru,Bull-pac or Rocky Mtn frame&packs
« on: January 19, 2003, 05:46:38 AM »
After a 20+ year lapse,I'm starting to look for an external frame&pack- one that fits this older/lamer back.
Have any of you tried Kifaru,Bull-pac or Rocky Mountain frame&pack combos? Are they -really-worth the higher $$$?
Thanks.

:D Hi Hans. I never heard of that pack.I use a Alaskan outfitter pack from Cabelas, that too is a pricy pack, but it's well build. It's frame is verry sturdy it's made out of 5/8 and 7/8 tubing, strong enough to carry out a heavy load of meat. And the pack is large I think it's 5000 or 5500 sq.inches dont remember, and a lot of pockets and a pocket for a rifle or a fly pack rod. Lp.
Dont go were the path leads,go were there is no path and leave a trail.

I use one in Colorado every year! I suffered way too many times with the Alaskan and freighter's. The padding is great, the distribution is great, and It has many hooks for either ties or bungies. I carried a full Elk 'hind' quarter almost 6 miles with one. My shoulder and back got tired, but I did not get sore...this with 125lbs of meat, and a TC Contender to boot. We did this 2 days in a row. All of my friends now use the Bull-Pac! It is an awesome frame. We chose this type cuz we didn't want to get packs bloody while carrying meat. We hike up, strip off the gear, set up camp, and hunt with a day-pack attached to the teh Bull-Pac. After downing an animal, we have the ties and gear to start packing right away. With a heavy load, teh pack does not creak or give like the lighter built frames, plus we have broken the aluminu, pinss that hold the other frames together. Can you tell yet that we will not trade our 'Bulls'? Go for it!
