Same exact problem mine was having. The striker on the hammer was pushed in too far- not flush with the face of the hammer. Thompson center sent me a new hammer and with a little help from the good people here, i replaced it myself. Havnt gotten out to the range with it yet, but im sure it fixed it. Set off 5 primers in unloaded brass no problem. Good luck :D

Odd. I had the same problem last weekend. The hammer pin did not rotate completely around in the center fire position. When I tried to fire, it just left a small dent in the primer. I sprayed the selector with gun scrubber and break free. Now when I switch to the center fire position it clicks and the hammer pin faces the firing pin. I have not been to the range yet but dry fired spent cases and its putting a nice dent in the primers.

It typically sounds like the selector on the hammer or a damaged center fire pin.  Does the selector on the hammer move all the way over?  Is the extension pin still in place?  I had a hammer where that pin came out so when the hammer dropped, nothing hit the firing pin.

Hope this helps.  Check the selector and check the firing pin.
