Ballistic Tip Pellets?
« on: September 09, 2004, 03:53:40 PM »
Anybody have first hand experience with these?  I know Cabela's sells them at a good price, but I wanted to have some input before investing in them.  First of all, the airgun I use at the moment is the Daisy Powerline 856F .177, average MV 635fps.  Shooting distance can vary from 30 ft. to 40 yds.  I'll mostly use them for squirrel extermination in an apple orchard in the foothills, where the winds are kind of shifty.  I can't use any type of rifle such as a rimfire  because of the proximity of buildings, and noise levels.  Do they provide better on-game performance, and do they buck wind better than standard pointed  lead pellets?  Any answers to these questions would be greatly appreciated.  Patriot

Patriot_1776,

I tried them in rifles and pistols that covered the power range from under 500 fps. to over 1,000 and the accuracy isn't what you would need to control squirrels.  They don't expand like you would think they should(don't work like Ballistic Tips in centerfire cartridges.  Save you money.  Lawdog
