Shooting to left
« on: September 11, 2004, 09:02:45 AM »
Was out shooting the other day with a new S&W 629 Classic 6" bbl, was shooting handloads that equal what Georgia Arms sells 240 gr deer stoppers.
No mater where I put rear sight or how close to target (15'), shots were hitting to left of where I was aiming. Did same for friend that was shooting it also. At 25 yds was hitting about 4" left of center at 15' was hitting about 2" left of center had a fairly consistent group size of about 3" but always hitting left of center.
Ammo that was used normally shoots about 1.5" groups at 25 yds out of a raging bull 44. Will be trying different types a ammo later but for now was wondering if anyone else had that problem with a 629 or not?
Thanks for all help
Jack

If you are going to use that load as your carry/hunting load, I'd put the gun on the bench to confirm point of impact vs point of aim and make the necessarry sight corrections. Just be sure that you're not dipping the barrel in anticipation of recoil. That's what happens to right handed shooters that all of a sudden shoot low/left.

Just a thought.

I had the same situation with my SBH when I first got it.
A buddy of mine had me use a stronger grip  by bringing my right hand more over the back.
The left side groups moved right to the bull...........................
