Well the guy might have a point in principle, but he is a little sideways in terminology.  Communism is more correctly used in reference to an economic ideology; the state owns most or all of the manufacturing and business enterprises and this is coupled with rampant socialism.

I believe what the dude is calling communism is more correctly called liberalism or progressive ideology.  The fact is though, those who push for more and more social programs, and more government controls than are absolutely necessary to keep a relatively orderly society, are probably tilting pretty dangerously toward communism whether they want to admit it or not.

One should not intermix or confuse democracy with capitalism, communism, or any other ism because it is quite possible to have democracy and any economic configuration simultaneously, theoretically anyway.  In actual practice...probably not.

As a matter of practicality, I think it is just about impossible to have an increasingly more complex and more dependant society without ever increasing controls and regulations.  If everyone was considerate of everyone elses rights and if everyone in society lived up to their obligations, this wouldn't be so, but sadly that just isn't the case.

That's pretty much my thinking.
Increasing controls have given us a society of dependents, who demand more controls, which makes us more dependent upon government.
The worst part is that many are sheeple, willing to bleat whatever the media tells them to. (when all the media was trying to do was write scary stories to sell more newspapers)

I've always felt that dumbocrats were nothing more than communists in civilian clothing and that commies were nothing more than dumbocrats in military garb.  I see little difference between the rantings of one and the effect of the other.

I do not believe that the more populated or sophisticated a society becomes the more regulations or rules are needed.  We have the basics and really don't need any more.  Just my two cents worth.  Mikey.

I think we had all the basics we needed when human slavery was abolished. Everything since then, whether originated by Republiclowns or Dumocrats, has just been downhill from there. I'd be glad to do without any laws passed since the 1860's. (except I'd want the revocation of the Jim Crow laws to stand unless we go back to before the passage of the Jim Crow laws)
Mitch.
