In your opinion, and experience, which bullet for self-defense purposes in the .45 ACP provides the best accuracy in a semi-auto, coupled with knockdown power and ballistic performance?  Patriot

There are many premium bullets out there that do the job well.  Pick a 225/230 gr h.p. sxt / golden sabre / hydra shock / etc.  If the hollow point should not open up for any reason, it will still act like a flat point and impart a lot of damage.  I recommend sticking with a bullet wt that the gun was engineered around (230 gr .45 / 115-124 gr 9mm / 180gr .40).  I have a friend that loves to shoot 165 gr in his .45 acp.  I tell him they have less penitration and mass and don't shoot anywhere near the sights, but he just say's 'ok, but look at the energy figures!'  Buy what works, not what looks good on paper!  44 Man
