My wife wants a small light weight single shot 22 rifle.
I looked at the Marlin 15Y youth model at the Marlin sight and it looks to be just what she wants.
Has anyone here owned one of these rifles?. If so, was it a good gun, and accurate?.
Also, what is a reasonable price for this gun new?.
My local gun shop wanted $155.+tax.

The price doesn't sound to bad. I have one, it is as accurate as any Marlin, but for really young children it is too heavy. The weight won't bother your wife, but the length of pull might.

Check your local Sports Authority store out

If you have a Sports Authority near you, check and see if they have any 15Ys on closeout.  About 2 months ago, I stumbled into one of the SA stores here in Atlanta and found one for $99!  Needless to say, I bought it right there.  2 weeks after that, I visited yet another SA store and they had 2 for that price too.  The store guys said that it had to do with their merging with Gard Sports (?) but I wondered if it was due to Marlin going to the 915Y instead.  Anyhow, I now have a 15Y to start my kids on.  [The cool thing was that I was actually on my way home from a gunshow, where I couldn't find a nice .22 youth model to buy.  I had pretty much decided to stop by a local Wally World and pick up a $100 Crickett when I saw the SA store and decided to stop in to browse.  Must have been manifest destiny.  Unfortunately, still haven't made it to the range but one day..... ]

PS: They also had the NEF Sportster .22LRs (not Youth Model) for $90 (I got one of them too ;)

You might want to have her try the Marlin 25N or the new 925.It's a clip fed .22 that has a regular size stock and it's not that heavy.
