Which accessories are necessary - Forster Trimmer?
« on: September 12, 2004, 04:55:48 PM »
Purchased a used trimmer (Forster) without accessories like collet and pilot, is the neck a necessary part, too? (Their website shows neck #308 for 30/30 and # 355 for 9mm). Thanks for any assistance. I do have hex wrenches! The unit currently has the following setup: http://members.aol.com/fly1jet/ForsterOriginal.jpg

To trim cases you need the basic tool which is what you have bought screwed down securely to your bench. You must have the proper collet for the cases you will trim and the appropriate pilots for each caliber. I assume you got the cutter head with your tool. That's really all you "have to" have. However if you want to trim very many cases you'll find a powder adapter and a cordless screwdriver invaluable.

well if u are just reloading none wild cat calibers just sell it an go get lee case trimmers for each shell you reload its the simplest i mean it stops you right at the max case length an you can just connect them to a drill an bang out a lot of rounds in short time but if u are  going to be loading wild cats an such just to go ther web sight an you can down load ther manual for free it will give you instructions on what your all nead to get,
i have two different cutters my self couldent pass the price up
i have a redding 1400 for when i an taken brass down to say 7tcu an such like that then i have a lyman set up just for case neck  but when i want to just trimm pistol shells or 243 you can grab the lee an cordless drill take a seat in front of the tv an cut all night long
