Which height Leupold quick release ring?

Just ordered a Bushnell 4200 Elite 6-24X40 scope.  Will be mounting it on a .270 Howa 1500 made in 1993.  Using Leupold Quick release two piece bases, which height ring should I be using?  Low or Medium?  The stock is a Bell and Carlson with Monte Carlo rise?  I want to use this new scope for silhouette and then put the Bushnell 3-9X40 back on for deer hunting.  I will get a set of these rings for each scope.  

If anything else would work better I am open to suggestions.

Leupold has a mount fit guide. Use the Leupold scope that is the same size and the guide will tell you which ring height.

The reason that will not work is that the release base for the old Howa is spaced differently than the new ones, which are the same as the Rem 700.  I can get the old Howa base from a liquidator, but the Luepold chart only shows current production runs.  Can I just use the Remington 700 base chart and believe those rings heights will be correct?  I'm thinking so, but don't want to get burned.

If you mean the holes are spaced differently for the bases but the overall contour of the barreled action is the same, I'd say yes the info is the same. If not, place the bases and rings on the action and lay the scope in the rings and see if they are correct. Just don't mark the rings and bases so they look used.

I was unaware that the Howa bases had changed.  I really hate having to return stuff just as you say..  Give the folks at Brownells a call.  They have a tecknical help desk and I'm sure they'd be glad to help.  I've called them many times and have never been disappointed with their knowledge and eagerness to help..  Their toll free number is 800-741-0015.  Tell them where you got the hint and from who!!  Maybe they'll help support our forum!  My quess is that with the long variable power scope and the relatively small front lens diameter a medium height ring will work.  The teck line at Brownells will know..

I will contact them for advice.  Thanks.  I will also confirm if that bases screw holes have changed over the years as I was led to believe.
