Over the years I have experienced a lot of misfires while using CCI primers in both handloads and factory ammo. Didn't seem to matter what type of firearm was used. Handgun, rifle or muzzeloader. I quit using their ammo for a couple of years until today. I bought a box and went to the range. The second shot misfired... I wrote the company and explained the problems I have had with their product over the years. Am waiting for a reply. Anybody else have these problems with CCI???

never had a problem with cci primers that was NOT operator error.(I used the wrong tray/ram in my Lee Autoprime). I used some that my grand dad had before he died. I did have some problems with Fed 210's.

I haven't had any problems with them. I did have two Winchester WLPs not fire, but those are the only primers I've ever had fail.

I have only had one misfire ... that was a CCI 550 two weeks ago. Other than that, no problems of any kind with primers.

I've used more CCI primers than all others put together. A conservative estimate would be perhaps 1/4 million shotshell primers and at least 100,000 centerfire pistol and rifle primers made by CCI.

I can't honestly say I remember a single failure that was primer related in all of that time.

CCI .22 Rimfire ammo is another favorite of mine and I've used untold thousands of them over the years. Failure to fire has been lower by far than most. Winchester has given me the most probelms in rimfire ammo followed by Remington. Federal like CCI has been really dependable.

I Keep hearing folks say bad things about CCI but I've probably used more of them than all of the folks I've heard complain combined and no problems. Makes me wonder why.

I have used only CCI primers for 12 or more years and have never had a misfire. I bought a 1000 Winchesters once and had enough misfires in the first 100 that I gave them away and went back to CCI, problem went away with the same gun.

Of all the rimfire ammo I have used I have had many misfires with Remington and Winchester, but never with CCI.

Many years ago I had troubles getting CCI 500 primers to ignite in .38 and .357 loads in different revolvers. I read where others had experienced the same thing. The primers were supposedly a bit harder than others. This was in the day when people commonly replaced mainsprings with lighter "target" springs or backed off the mainspring strain screw in S&W revolvers. I put the factory springs back in the revolver I carried most often and used other primers in others.

Now I use CCI primers without a complaint. I can usually find them and Winchester primers at about any gun shop around here.

I have been using CCI primers, in all sizes and types, since the early 1960's, and have NEVER had one fail to go "bang".

(Never had any problem with Remington, Winchester, Alcan or Fiocchi primers either. the only misfire I ever experienced was with a box of Federal factory .44 Special ammo. Two out of fifty failed to fire.)

like was said ccis are a little harder and need a good hammer blow to ignite if your gun has an action job the hammer spring may be a little on the light side.

That sure is strange. Most of the firearms I used them in were new. My Winchester Legacy experienced a failure rate of 1 out of 5 rounds if I remember right. . I switched to Federal primers and it ate them like a champ. I believe my brother used them on his muzzeloader. Said the hammer mashed the heck out of them and still failed to fire.

That must have been a shock.) Friend of mine has a .380 pistol that has had failures with CCI. (So I guess it's not all just in my head :eek: But then I didn't ask him if his gun made a habit of it with other brands...) I can't really blame my firearms as they feed and fire all other brands of ammo without a problem. Anyway, kinda interested as to what the tech boys at CCI can tell me. Always open to a new opinion. I have been using CCI primers in both rifle and handguns for over 20 years without a single problem. I have loaded many thousands of rounds over this time. Hate you are experiencing problems. I wish I had an answer. :?

I don't doubt you fellows who have been satisfied with CCI primers, but I am not. I shot competitive PPC for a good many years and there ain't a doubt in my mind that the CCI primers of the 80s and early 90's were the hardest made and gave misfires in tuned guns that worked flawlessly with Federal and Winchester primers. I also ran into a batch of CCI that were distinctly oval and prone to tipping while being seated.

You might never notice the hardness issue in stock guns, but it sure shows up in match tuned revolvers.
