Author of "Girly Men" don't like .50s?
« on: September 14, 2004, 03:55:26 PM »
Well, the former sharp as a tack, gun-toting actor of Hollywood, has caved in to the desires of those who love to infringe on the "#2."  This law to my knowledge bans any further purchases of .50 caliber rifles in "Kalifornya" and bans any purchase of .50 caliber ammunition in said state.  Also, those who own one already have until April of '06 to register them.  Funny, last year it was semi-auto rifles, this year it is ALL .50 caliber rifles.  My sympathies to the .50 BMG owners of California.  If I have missed anything on this subject, feel free to add on.  PAtriot

How does this affect the old big game calibers, 500 Nitro, 577, 600, etc.?

Check it out here.  http://www.ktvu.com/news/3729627/detail.html

Didn't surprise me in the least.  The “Terminator” is a long time supporter of abortion rights, gun control and gay rights(Remember the family he married into).  During the vote on the Brady Bill the “Terminator” was shown with his wife and Sarah Brady going from door to door drumming up support for the bill.  This is just one of the reasons why Arnold Schwarzenegger should have never been elected.  He is so liberal he should spell Republican =

Lawdog has it right.  This is no flip-flop for Arnold.  He is very up front about this stuff.

There is supposed to be a new bill being introduced by a California representative -- an amendment to the constitution to be more precise -- which would let foreign born people who have been citizens for at least 20 years become US president.  This would allow Arnold to become president, if elected.

I am going to write my representatives and argue against this change.  We don't need to open the door to foreigners.  We have enough home grown talent, our government will not suffer for the lack of these foreign born people becoming US president.  This amendment is not needed to fix a problem that we as a nation have -- it is solely directed to a "problem" experienced by foreign born people.  Now I happen to think the framers of the constitution were pretty smart guys, and in the absence of a very obvious case that ALL of us would benefit from this change, I say leave the consitution unchanged!!!

Given Arnold's known opposition to guns, I don't think he would be any better than John Kerry for gun rights, including the second amendment.

Goes to show you now a days just because a candidate is Republican doesn't mean they're pro 2nd amendment. Our gov. of NY George Pataki (the one who introduced GWB at the RNC) is as rabid an anti-gunner as any of them. He endorsed and passed to law in NY in 2000 a bill that effectively mirrored the national AWB. In politics it isn't about peoples rights its about peoples votes.>John

Go to http://www.ktvu.com/politics/3734916/detail.html and see that there is more than one congressman introducing this bills to this effect.  I just hope the people of California remember what Arnold Schwarzenegger did when he runs for re-election in two years.  Then the rest of the United States needs to remember when it's the “Terminator” for President in 2008.  Now that is a scary though.  Lawdog

Despite the Austrian RINO, would it be feasable to make a wildcat by say necking the 50 down to .45?  You would get higher velocity and possibly even better range.  Is there enough of a market in CA for such a gun?

I once read a credible analysis that came to the conclusion that the Democrats' agenda was socialism, and the Republicans' agenda was getting elected. That would explain why the Dems seem better at accomplishing their goals, and the only Republican goals that go anywhere are the ones the Dems agree with.

Ever notice that the first thing any Democratic president does is fire all the Republicans, and the Republican presidents don't follow suit for fear of the newspapers calling them meanies? Now you know why the bureaucuracy is so incredibly leftist.
