? on TC Cougar
« on: September 15, 2004, 03:42:04 PM »
When did TC stop making this gun?
I seen one the other day and it looks really neat.
It was priced the same as a used TC Hawken ($250).
Any info on the gun would be appreciated.

Thanks.

They were special runs made in 1987 and 1992 if my memory servers me well...I have a couple .45's & a couple .50's.

As a special run, they used better looking wood, plus a stainless lock and stainless furniture...the barrel, tang, & triggers are standard TC Hawken parts (the word Cougar is stamped/added to the barrel's right side).

If it's clean, $250 would be a fair price...but check the stock very closely with a fine tooth comb for hairline cracks...one of mine developed a crack and they replaced it...but now they're all out of stock.

And that's the bad news, like many of TC's other special runs, is that they're now out of replacement stocks and stainless parts for the Cougars, so if a stock splits, etc, they have nothing to replace it with.
