I've shot several of these.  Might as well have been throwing the .22's at the target.  8 inch group at 50 yards was the worst, 3 inch group was the best of the three guns.  On one of them the "dovetail" was milled crooked into the receiver.  You get what you pay for.  Save your money and buy a used Mossberg!

goose,

Remember you most likely get what you pay for.  The chances of getting an accurate rifle cheaply are not good.  Save your money and buy a good rifle.  Lawdog

Bullpucky!!! Armory and Lawdog The Romanian 69 is one of the most accurate cheap 22's out there!!!!! Mine will shoot half inch groups at 50 yards all day long with ammo it likes! Armory you maybe got a dog but you cannot say all the romanians are like that! As far as the scope rails go they are not the best but if off  can be utilized either by shiming or doing some work on one of the rings!  For the money they are a great buy! Goose go to some of the other 22 websites and see what they have to say about the Romanian 22 most all the reports I have heard the owners said their guns were extremly accurate. Yea some need a little tinkering but nothing serious and are great accurate shooters. My gunsmith borescoped my barrel and said it looked as good as a target barrel I agree the outsides may not be as pretty as a sporter but the barrels are excellent. Armory I wonder if you shot all the ammo you could get to see what shot the best or had a  loose scope? To be honest this is the first post I have read where some one did not get good accuracy out of one of these rifles. Put it this way goose if you get one and do not like it you can sell it for what you have into it easily. I sure would take a chance on getting a accurate rifle for the little money involved.  The negative comments about the Romanian 69  remind of the folks who badmouth Henry Rifles either because they heard they were cheaply made or because they are Marlin, Win, Or Browning fans many who never picked one up and shot them. Henry levers are a other gun I would not get rid of and is extremely accurate. My Henry 22 mag will also shoot half inch groups at 50 yards. Jim
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

Goose go to this forum http://www.milsurpshooter.net/ and go to this board Military 22 caliber Target and Trainng Firearms. Lots of good info here on the Romanian 69 and others. I should clarify what I said above to Lawdog and Armory. Yea some of these guns may need tinkering to shoot good but nothing serious to get them shooting good. Any brand gun you can get a clunker but for the most part these guns are well made accurate guns for the money I would not sell mine for anything. It is that accurate. Goose this site I gave you has lots of tips to get your romanian shooting great if you have any problems with it, but most shoot good as you get them. Mine did I had NO problems with it right from the start. Let us know if you get one and how it shoots. Like I said this site I gave you has tips for any probs you may have if any. Jim

JH45gun,  When the Rom trainers came out, my dad, brother, and I each got one.  Shortly after I picked up a second one for myself at a yard sale.  I'm 4 for 4 for bad shooters.  Shot bulk bullets from Winchester, Remington, and Federal, shot CCI mags, and Federal match.  5-inch groups at 50 yards (best group with Winchester Wildcats!) is not what I'd call accurate on any gun.  Scopes and mounts were good quality and anchored tight.  Guns were shot from a bag rest.  Heavy burrs on the crown and uneven rifling do not lend themselves to accuracy, but do lend themselves to inexpensive, mass-produced military trainers.

What's wrong with getting a good marlin or savage for under 150.00?

Nothing at all.  I'd rather pay $75 for a good ol' Mossberg, however.  I've had some that looked like they were ready for the trash heap, and still shot 1 inch groups!

In your opinion but that's not the opinion of many others.

Do you advocate shimming scopes to make up for poor workmanship?  The rails are only one example of the workmanship that goes into these rifles.

It's not the first time for me and others.

The resident gunsmith's at our club looked over a few that have shown up there and they had different remarks about the barrels.  Just because the one you got shoots OK for you doesn’t mean all of them shoot well.  Have I ever owned one, NO.  Would I ever own one, again NO.  Have I ever shot one, YES.  Many times in fact and their accuracy didn’t show me they were worth what people paid for them.  “goose” needs to save his money and purchase a good rimfire, new or used but get his money’s worth.  Lawdog

Well sorry you guys got bad guns I suppose it can happen as I have seen the same thing with Ruger guns good and bad shooters! From what I have seen on the web most guys that have them like them. Also trying 4 different types of ammo may not be enough.  I have heard that these guns are made several different places so but over looked by the same large co so maybe that is the difference. All I  know is mine shoots great and the site I posted has good things to say about them also. Jim
