Moose Milk Results
« on: September 16, 2004, 03:38:10 AM »
Well I finally got everything together and made it to the range yesterday. Armed with Moose milk and Pillow ticking (.018 or so). Shot at 50 yds and was pleasantly surprised.  .54 rb and 75 grains of 3F Goex I was getting 2" center to center off the bench.  I know that's not great but it will do for a start. For the first time I was able to find a fired patch, though I don't think I would reuse them I could in a pinch. On top of all that I didn’t have to swab the whole time! I just want to thank everyone for all the great info and getting me on the right track!

C F, What do you use to protect the bore while stored if not oil?

I use the T/C lube (yellow), but any natural grease or non-patroleum product will work.   It has to do with the patroleum product turning to an asphault type gunk when subjected to high heat - or something like that.

Our ancesters had no patroleum, and were able to keep their rifles rust free.  They didn't have to swab tween shots neither.
