I opened the safe yesterday with going on a bear stand or two and plucked out my recently aquired 96 sweed instead of of one of a bunch of sporters available.  Six hours of patience with ony reward being a beautiful autum day.  I guess I realy like the old relic.  I've already ordered a set MOJO sights,dies,componets,etc.  Now what I need is advice in the selection of an aftermarket trigger.  Bold and Timney seem to be common options.  Can you give pros and cons of each as far as quality, ease of installation, etc?  I really like this old warhorse.  I hope this is not infectious........Thank's to all           Essex County

I'd take a little time and ask questions.  Contact each of the aftermarkey suppliers and see how much fussin' you'll have to do to replace the stock trigger.  I know that most require some wood removal to drop in the new trigger set.  Then there's the 3-way safety...original or low profile replacement for a scope.

I haven't changed any triggers in any of my mausers I just put moly on the sear and it smooths them out enough to where I'm happy with them.
On some sear you can polish them then add moly so their even better too.

Essex County:  I would go with the Bold Trigger, the one with the internal safety.  That way you can remove the bolt safety on your 96 and install a bolt block and she will look good.  The Bold Trigger is adjustable for let-off and take-up and I prefer it over the Timney (had both).  The Bold is easy to install.  Both are quality parts but I think the Bold is the easiest ot install.  Then I would do what BigBill does - apply some moly lube to the sear and bolt and you shold have a slick shootin' rifle.  HTH.  Mikey.

Thank's to all.  The Bold sounds good, I've used Timneys years ago and was happy with them.  I wouldn't even consider an aftermarket trigger at all if this was going be a hunting rifle, but my goal is to extract as much accuracy off the bench as I can.  I bet there's a bunch of shooters in Sweden that think the same way I do.  Thank's again.  I'm always looking for imput............Thank's again,  Essex
