how fast does this handgun shoot?

is it very accurate?
would it be good for close range hunting of tree rat and med. rabbits?

The velocity information on the box of my 1377 states:
 
3 pumps
300 FPS

6 pumps
430 FPS

10 pumps
490 FPS

My 1377 is almost 24 years old - the specs may have changed since then. These are the stated avg. velocities for pellets.
As far as accuracy - never done any serious testing with it. For the hec of it I may take it to the indoor range and shoot a few through it. The trigger is pretty creepy and not conducive to accurate shooting.

I have three of the 1300 series.  Two 1377's and one 1322(.22 caliber).  Chronographed with light weight pellets the 1377 will do around 550 fps. with ten pumps.  The sights are not the best but I have scopes on all of mine and the accuracy is surprisingly good.  At ten yards the groups, 5 shot, can be covered with a dime and covered with a nickel at 25 yards.  I prefer them to any other pump air pistol.  Lawdog

The three that have passed thru my hands shoot at 510 to 547 fps with 7.9 grain CPL pellets at 4000 ft alt.  If you get one with a good barrel they can be very accurate.  That's the rub; out of 12 pistols I checked out in our local Big 5 sporting goods store only 2 had good barrels!  The others had either no rifling, straight no twist rifling or both straight and twist rifling in the same barrel - three were like that.  I also saw one that had a completely rusted out bore.  If you buy one from a local store take a small flashlite and a magnifying glass so you can clsely inspect the bore.  Keep looking until you find a good one.  If you mail order one and find it has a bad barrel you can get a replacement barrel from Crosman for $4.47 + shipping.  I had to do that for one I bought sight unseen that had a usable but not very nice bore. I have a very much modified 1377 that is close to as accurate as my IZH-46, but 1377's are not heavy enough to be a good one handed target shooter like an IZH.  Excellent pistol if you get a good one.

I really like my Crosman 1377c. Its perfect for small game. A couple weeks ago I took out a cottontail 10 yards away.

Good power for a air pistol and accuracy is excellent in my experience.  I fired the very first perfect open sight score ever shot in the IHMSA's Air pistol division with a stock 1377 and bulk pack crosman wadcutters.  5 shots in 1/4" center to center is expected with mine and it regularly does better.  For $50 it can't be beat in my opinion.  

For hunting I have used it for grouse and squirels with head shots only.  It is effective this way with immediate results.  Body hits at the pistol velocities will kill but not fast enough that you might lose the game before it dies.  Stick with head shots and it is fine.
