I have a 336 in .30/30 that I bought new in 1975. It has never had a scope on it, and if it could talk the conversation would be interesting. Also have an 883 with a Bushnell Sportview 3x9x32, and the latest addition is a 917VS with a Nikon Prostaff 3x9x40 and a Rifle Basix trigger. I'd like to someday get a SS 45/70 lever rifle. Don't really have a practical use for it other than hunting hogs (that's what I told my wife I needed it for), but I've always wanted one.

I have two...., no three..., no four, yeah four.
Two rimfire bolt actions. A .22 mag. and a 917V.
I LOVE the 917V.
I have an old, old, 336 in .30-30 that actually says 'Westernfield" on it.
Sucker must be 40 years old and wears an original, nearly new, El Paso 2.5 Weaver scope. Shoots right nice too.
I have an 1895 LTD II in 45-70 that wears a brand new El Paso Weaver 4X Steelite that I bought for 70 bucks in the sealed factory box.
The LTD II has a 26" taperd octagon barrel, full length magazine tube and has never been fired.
I gotta get round to shooting the thing.

My first rifle was a Marlin Mdl 81 DL. I received it for my 12th birthday in 1948. I still have it and it shoots as good as ever. Purchased a replacement peep from Marlinman93.
Also have a 39A .22, 1894C in .38/367, a 336SC in .35 Rem., and a 1895SS in 45/70.
Just purchased a Mdl 925 bolt in .22 LR for my Grandson's 11th birthday.

A gun my dad gave me from the 40`s/50`s, same as the 881(.22 LR), but different, not sure, has a weird extractor, hardwood stock.

I've only owned one Marlin, a rather strange .22 Magnum lever action. I think it was a Model-57M. I say strange because it was a lever action but had a 24" barrel and a flat bottom forend like a range target rifle. It was fairly accurate and a joy to shoot. The only real problem was I didn't realize the stock wasn't walnut so I gave it a couple of coats of paste wax to brighten up the stock; took the finish right off. Of course I know better now, but that certainly didn't help me then. Best wishes.

DOH!!! First time I've checked back on this topic!!! Sorry Tee Pee!
Yes, I shoot everything I own, regardless of age! That's what they were made for, and I don't like wallhangers anyway!

Are you sure Marlins are NOT perfect?
I love simplicity that works.
Several years ago I happened to walk into the local gun dealer trying to recoup from an earthquake that dumped everything on the floor.
He was running a special on a little 25M that ended up near the bottom of the stack, and it had some rather deep gouges in the wood.
I was looking for anything other than a eargesplittenloudenboomer to use around the yard anyway, so I bought it. Turned out to be the perfect squirrel gun. It might have been shaken up, but didn't lose it's in-bred accuracy. After a year or so, I noticed that since wood has a natural tendency to return to its original shape, all the gouges had popped back out, and they now appear no worse than what a rifle gets after regular use anyway. New stocks are available, but why bother?
I also have an 882 (same gun in stainless).
I want to get a 717, but may have to wait until the next big earthquake...

I only have four Marlins right now. They are all lever guns and are all used for cowboy lever action silhouette matches. They are all equipped with Williams FP receiver sights with target knobs and Lyman 17A front sight. I have a 39A Golden and a 57 for smallbore matches, a 57M for pistol cartridge matches, and a 336RC in 30/30 for the long range matches. I'll probably be getting rid of the 39A now that I have the model 57, as I like the feel of the one-piece stock on the 57 more for offhand shooting. I rarely shoot the long range matches, but I'll hang onto the 336RC because it's scary accurate for such an old, iron-sighted gun. It was also a present from my dad and I took a deer with it, so there's little chance of it leaving my collection before I leave this world.
As for the non-lever Marlins, I just don't see myself getting one. There seem to be better alternatives from other companies for each action type, unlike the lever guns. I have a CZ 452 Varmint for a bolt rimfire and a tweaked 10/22 for an autoloader, for example.

At one time I had over 100 Marlins. I'm down to about 45 and am selling them all. Got any wishes for a Marlin? Let me know. I might have it. They are mostly modern lever actions. :-)

i might be interested if you have anything in the $200 or less range, I don't have a lot of cash to spend this month.
If you want to really move them fast you should post that info to the classifieds section, just list what you have in general and see if you get a bite or two.

I bought my first Marlin 3 yrs ago 25MNC .22mag with a 3X9 Simmons scope. Two words to describe it - TACK-DRIVER! First time I took it hunting-7 shots = 6 squirrels. Squirrel #7 was only about 10 ft away when I pulled the trigger. Sure does make the dirt fly behind them if you don't adjust for that. I've taken my shotgun out one time since then, I just felt guilty leaving it.
