I have been hunting with the Nosler .308 165gr Bal. Tip.  I have looked at the Hornady SST and wonder how they perform?

Have any of you had any experience with these?

My brother has killed two mule deer bucks and a bull elk with the 165 grain Hornady SST from his 06.   No problem. I was suprised at how well they penetrated. They are a good bullet. Practice with them at the distances that you will be shooting game at since they tend to shoot higher than expected owing to their excellent ballistic coeficient.

I tried the 165's in my 30-06 a couple years ago, and yes they do seem to penetrate better than what I thought they would do.They did not perform like a ballistic-tip at all, leaving a fairly small exit hole but they still didn't take nore than a half-dozen steps and they were down. Very accurate too. :D
