30-40 Krag
« on: January 20, 2003, 04:46:52 AM »
I recently picked up a pair of Krags that look like they were used for fence post at one time or another.  All of the metal is good, no pitting, they can be restored but I need a few minor parts.  I would like new wood and barrel bands, sling swivels, etc. Anyone know of a good source?

Start with Numrich Gun Parts Corp. They're on line. Just type Numrich into your search engine and go from there.  Also type in Krag, etc. and you'll be surprised what you'll find. there are probably bulletin boards devoted to Krag cultists who will be able to answer every question you have and ask a whole bunch of questions that never occured to you.

Thanks for the input.  I typed in "Krag" and found several places that have parts.  I talked to one individual today, he thinks he can provide me with original wood and all of the metal parts for $125. (thats for one gun).  I would like to get both of them back to original.  Maybe if I keep after it I will find mose parts.

reloading for the Krag

Remember that if you reload for the Krag not to exceed the factory loads at all.  That one lug on the bolt won't hold the additional pressure.  Great smooth action though!

Rockabillie, try the CSP websight. I've seen several parts in the for sale forum. They even have a Krag forum that talks nothing but Krags.
