do what you want to do, and don't let anyone else tell you different.your the one that's paying for it and will be using it. the only time that i'm against the idea of modifying a rifle is if it has some sentimental attachment, like it belonged to your grandfather and it's a family heirloom. if you feel guilty, buy 2 and keep one original and do what you will to the other. i know this goes against common thinking about milsurps, but really how many Mausers where made? 1 million, 2 million? it's not like they're rare as an original Walker Colt.
