Leupold Rifleman see thru scope mounts (not Remington...)
« on: September 20, 2004, 12:15:01 PM »
Anyone have experience with these mounts? I was thinking of ordering a pair for my hunter gun.

Top of receiver to bottom of scope is supposed to be 1.3"

See thru mounts

Haven't seen the particular mounts you are talking about,  but typically all the see thru mounts are rather hoaky.  Very easy to knock out of whack.  The problem is the thickness ( or thinness) of the metal arount the see thru hole.   I'm prejudice but good rings and an elevated base are the way to go.   I've seen several folks get their rifle bumped or dropped and that puts them out of the match for that day.    Don

As you probably know Leupold does not manufacture these rings rather they are purchased from a manufacturer and packaged under the Leupold name.  With that being said - I have been using these rings (purchased under the manufacturers name) for the last 6 years and have found them to be absolutely reliable, I have never had a moments trouble with them.

I agree that if the rifle were dropped or severely bumped there could be a problem but in the case of these rings I do not think anymore of a problem then one would have with any other rings.  Anytime a rifle is dropped or bumped that hard the zero will have to be confirmed anyway and this particular ring seems to be more solid than the typical see-thru rings.
