New gun ban in Michigan?
« on: September 22, 2004, 10:28:22 AM »
I just caught part of it on the radio the other day, but I heard mention of a bill in Michigan to replace the expired Federal “assault” weapons ban.  Has anyone heard anything about this and who is pushing it?  I have my suspicions of the who and with Granholm there it will surely get signed.  This is the former Attorney General that tried everything in her power to stop the new CCW law and even refused to do her job pertaining to this new law just because she didn’t agree with it.

Here's a google for ya:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=michigan+assault+weapon+ban

This ran in the Detroit Pravda around Labor Day:

State Sen. Gilda Jacobs, D-Huntington Woods, and state Rep. Bill McConico, D-Detroit, plan to
introduce bills this week that will ban on assault weapons in the state.

On Tuesday, however, Jacobs said that she has low expectations that the Michigan Legislature will act on the bill this year. The plan was well-received by Detroit Police Chief Ella Bully-Cummings.

"I'm in total support of any legislation that will take these weapons off the street," Bully-Cummings said.

"These are weapons of war, and that's where they should be -- not in the community."

another pencil-pusher who has never even seen an "assault rifle."

my god. does anyone use their brain anymore?

ask an average cop how many times in their carreer they have come across a crime scene where someone used an UZI to shoot someone 78 times. i know the answer already but apparently FACTS and TRUTH dont matter to most people.
I have it on good authority that the telepromter is writing a stern letter.
