it's like my life isn't busy enough or clogged up with enough garbage. i spent the last month or so flying back and forth between NY and CA for work.

i've been wanting a 22 rimfire sportster so on the morning of september 6th, i schlepp out to the local gun store and place an order for a 22 sportster. his supplier won't be delivering for 2 weeks, no problem, and shipping is free if you can wait for his truck. that night, i load my sorry carcass on a united flight through chicago to san jose. my project work out there is a pretty cool network switch that is almost done, design wise. 10 or so days drag by and i get home on tuesday, yesterday. the gun shop is closed, no sportster. today i call and the shop owner informs me the gun has been backordered.....

he's not sure when it will be available. now i'm slightly annoyed, a phone call to me when he found it out it wasn't available would have been nice.

the wife and i had to leave the house today while the real estate agent (?) brought the buyer and home inspector through the place. so, i heard talk here of wally world selling NEF's, with 2 hours to kill i loaded up the truck with the 5 dogs and the wife and headed out to the local walmart on route 290 in the bustling metropolis of east syracuse, ny.

no guns could be ordered today at walmart, they are doing inventory today and the gun counter dude could not get a Purchase Order Number from the Walmart God of Purchase Order Numbers for love nor money. no gun today, request denied. the gun counter dude told to come back tomorrow.

what ever happened to that smiley yellow face that drops the prices and points to everything you need at Walmart

the walmart price was pretty good, $103 and change instead of $135 at the local gunshop who couldn't get one. i once had a friend, who has long since expired, that sold firewood, when he had wood, it was $55 a cord, when he didn't have any wood it was $25 a cord.

my 17 sportster took about 7 weeks to get through a series of unending follies and apparent misunderstandings on my part all caused by me most likely.

i hope to have a 22 rimfire sporty by the new year !

Sorry to do this to you SC but SportsSouth has no Sportsters in .22 LR in stock. Since they are the distributor Wal-Mart uses for H&R's you will not get one from Wal-Mart until SportsSouth shows them in inventory. They do however have the youth model available for the same price. The only difference is the length of the buttstock. So if you had to have one now you could order the youth model and change the buttstock after you got it or shoot it like it is....<><.... :grin:

you are absolutely right, i can't get a 22 rimfire sporty for love nor money. i called the factory and they said they will be making more of them in december or so.

so now it's a waiting game. life could be worse.

I have two Youth NEF Sportsters new in the box, unfired. Also have a synth adult stock. Open to offers of cash or trade (would toss in some cash on a centerfire NEF, rifle or pistol caliber.. or anything else you have for trade that may be interesting..)

it arrived !!!!

got a call from one of the three local guns where i ordered a 22 rimfire sportster, it arrived today, to late to pick it up today (of course) so i have to wait till tomorrow.

pay dirt !
