Hey everyone! I appreciate your input on this!
I have an older Remington 660 in 350 remington magnum that I am trying to load for Elk hunting. I bought a box of 225 grain Barnes triple shocks to tryout. The problem that I am encountering is that the bullet can not be seated longer than spec (2.800"). when I seat the bullet like this it is pushed too far back in the brass for a real tight grip. It is hand tight but if you tap it on the table nose down it seats further. (All of this was done with an unprimed, uncharged shell.) The vast majority of the bullet is in the casing.
This bullet is .358" in diameter. The diameter just sticking out of the mouth of the case is .349". Thats how far its seat back at COL of 2.800".
Just cambering the bullet 6 times in a row seated it another .005" further into the case.
To me this will not work at all for hunting elk. I have called Barnes and they are trying to give an answer.
Can someone please suggest another bullet to try?
I have to have this load finished in a little over a week
Thanks!
