Need Some Info On Selling The 30-06
« on: September 23, 2004, 07:14:38 AM »
Because of a Divorce and financial problems it looks like I will be parting with the 30-06 after only 19 rounds through it  . I know a couple of you have bought and sold on here and I need some info on the legality of shipping, what it costs, and how did you work out the transaction?

If you do not have a face to face sale and you have to ship it,it will have to go from an 01 licensee to another 01 licensee.Usually they charge about $20 for this.

Actuall thelaw only states it has to be shipped TO a FFL not from one.  the thing is some FFL's do not want them from private parties.

It's up to the FFL that is receiving it.  But it is not the law.  You still have to have and retain a copy of the original signature FFL certificate of the receiving FFL.  many private citizens don't want to mess with it so they take it to a dealer. the problem there is most dealers want a fee to send it and the others want a fee to receive.

Just check with the DOJ and see how long you have to keep the cert. and save some money for both.

How much you asking?
God, Family, and guns, in that order!

Unless state law forbids it, like maybe Commiefornia or Jersey, you should be able to send it to anybody within your home state without shipping it to an FFL holder.
