« on: September 23, 2004, 05:18:03 PM »
I just got a Rock Island. .45 (1911 clone) thats mil spec.

Im trying to find some aftermarket 3 dot sights.. the question is , i found
some but i need to know that thickness the front ones are as they are steaked in the slide.. they come in 2 sizes.. I dont want to pull the old ones off the slide till i get the new ones here...

anyone ever changed the factory ones on a Rock Island ?

Front sights come in 3 tenon widths, thin, medium, and wide. Fortunately, they don't cost much so if you get the wrong ones, you're not out much. If the gun is really mil-spec, it should have the thin tenon. The medium tenon are pretty much for the Springfield Armory slides, and the wide tenon for Series 80 Colt and clones.
