I just got this 788 .243, it chambers the factory loads smoothly but the completely resized once fired brass fired in the same gun chambers hard, any ideas

robin-hood,   I assume you are talking about hand loads being hard to chamber. Are you running your dies down to the point that the loader toggles in, if not that might be the problem,,,,,,,If not you may have to get a set of small body dies or at least the sizing die. Hope this helps. Stay safe..........Joe...........

you may have to make that die tight enough against the shell holder when the ram toggles in that it pushes the shoulder back a little further than you've gotten thus far......possibly turning the die in 1/4 to 1/2 turn more than it is now?    in other words you've got to push on that handle a little bit extra to bring the ram all the way up.     i had to do it with a 7mm Rem' Mag' Ruger stainless steel for a buddy of mine.    after that the cartridges would chamber.      he hadn't had any problems with factory rounds either.

good luck.

Robin-Hood-90,,
Another thing i forgot to mention, In one case i had to grind the bottom of a set of 308 dies to get the case shoulder set back enough to close the bolt without busting a gut. I'm sure your problem is in the setting of your dies. Let us know how you make out, I'm interested in what you find out.
Good luck.........Joe.........
