Resizing question ?

Here's the background - I have some once fired brass (reloads I shot in my rifle) that chamber freely.  After I partial full length resize (about one bullet caliber in length - so I get most of the neck and some of the case), the brass is harder to chamber.  Why would it get harder to chamber?  Am I pushing brass down to above the case head?  The rifle in question is chambered in 240 Weatherby.  Something to do with the belt?

Chances are the once fired brass was shot in a larger chamber then your gun has. I always full length resize once fired brass since you don't know what type gun or chamber it was fired in. Try FL resizing a few and see if that helps.

Since the Weatherby has a radiused shoulder, and you are only "partial resizing" the cases, I suggest that you back-out your sizing die so as to NOT resize more than 1/2 the neck area, and make sure that the neck is well lubricated, both inside and out.
