I`ve been looking for fiber-optic sights for my 45/70 barrel to no avail?  Is there any available?

How about trying a set of the new metal fiber optic sights (Williams perhaps?) that come on the Huntsman or Sidekick muzzleloaders. I hear good things about the new metal sights as opposed to the earlier/older model plastic sights. They should be a perfect fit also. I am sure there is someone here that has one that can advise better than I,  but it seems it should work. Most things on these guns are interchangeable....<><....

Simple, just call customer service at H&R1871 yourself and have a set sent out. Put it on a credit card, they will send them out today and when they arrive put them on with a (small) screwdriver or allen wrench. Ask CS if the sights are attached with an allen wrench and if the allen wrench and screws are supplied, I am sure at least the screws are supplied and the allen wrench might come with them also. Another route to go is to call Williams and buy a new set of thier Firesights to fit the Huntsman but I think the prices from H&R are a bit better for the same item....<><....

(P.S. you might think about changing gunshops/gunsmiths or doing research yourself, this forum is a great place to start...)

Check out Junior Daughty's web site on Black Powder in the 45-70 Handi-Rifle  he list the front Firesight using with a rear peep sight.

I thought I had found at one time rear mounting Firesight or the Tru-glow but can not find that site for now.

You might want to just scope it and be done with it.  I have had much success with accuracy on my Ultra 45-70 with a Tasco 3x9x40mm and have it range set for what my hunting needs are in the dark woods.  But just in case I need that pasture shot I know where it will hit as well.

I would do what MSP Ret said about getting the sights from H&R for the Huntsman.  If in doubt look at the photo of each, your 45-70 and the Huntsman and I think you will see the lines are almost the same.  I think that would work if you need total Firesights.

After double-checking with H&R factory, fiber-optics are not available, nor do they know of anythig on the market.  I may have to go with peep rear sight & fber optic front; but I may just put on a scope and be done with it.

The Williams .815" Shorty ramp sight will fit the .45-70 including the screw that comes with it. Along with it, order one of the Firesight inserts for it.
