Well it finally cooling off, there is a frost advisory tonight. Its supposed to be in the mid to low 30's. I am hoping the weather change will get the bears moving and start hitting the baits again. What do you guys think?

I seem to notice over the many years hunting blackies, cloudy days produce the best hunting for blackbear in a baited situation, they don't like wind or rain either, not saying you would never see one during those times, but rare, also clear sky's seem not to be productive due to the light levels are too bright for them before dusk, the cloudy days make them think its later than it is, Also I think smart old boars go nocturnal and you never get to see them, just there scat and no food left from the night before. free range bear hunting is very hard, mostly luck if you see one, hunting logging roads in remote areas are the best, Bears like logging roads easy travel, My best friend this week scored a nice bruin, he came in at 340 Pd's, looked like he was 500 Pd's;) took four good size guys to carry him out, My friend made a great shot at 200 yards down a logging road, just happen to tern his head and look down the road and caught blackie crossing, his shot was about eight inches back too far, caught some of the gut, ran 400 yards in the bush, hardly bled, the master guide rod Sirois found blood 200 yards in the bush bye circling, before we found the bear, he had laid down three different times, The holes in the bear were clogged with fat, thats what happens when you shoot bears for the most part, very tough critter to down, we were teasing Bruce he is either in the hall shame or the hall of fame, He entered into the hall of fame with his 205 yard shot, longest successful shot in the bear camp ever. This was 120  Miles northwest of FtKent Maine on the black river on the boarder of canada, we hunting out of a good friend and Master guide Rod Sirois Northern Hideaway camp, Rod was a Navy seal during his younger days, the last week hunted consisted of all Navy seals, bunch of good old guy's, had a great time even though I did not score a big bruin, saw 14 bears at the bearsite, too small to shoot, two monsters came in after shooting time, of course;) My site I had a nice 130 yard shot, not to be too close to the bait, better chance to see a big bruin, just love being way up in the boonies hunting trophy bruins. Aim small hit small. RAMbo.

P.S. I wish hunt101 was working to store pictures to show you guys that nice bruin my friend shot but they are down right now under construction.

Wolverine, I, like you, hope they start to feed again, been real slow here also. Have coyote's hitting the bait but no bear. Will hit it hard this weekend, may see a little snow up in our neck of the woods on Sunday.
