Anybody hunting North Eastern California/Klamath/Tule Lake?

The opener is still over a week away but I was just curious if any board members live up there or will be making the trip.  I will be hunting on the Sprauge River near "Sprague River".

Well the opener was great.  Friday night it rained which knocked down the dust.  Saturday am in Oregon my dad and I limited on Mallards.  Sunday back in California we got limits again.

Congrats on the ducks.  See any geese?

Our season starts the last weekend of Oct. for a small portion of the state.  The rest starts the second weekend of November.

To long to wait in my opinion.

heh, well I'll start off by saying yes I am spoiled living in the central valley.  There was an aerial survey of Tule Lake NWR and Lower Klamath NWR 10/5 (Opening day was 10/9).  There was 1-2 million birds on both combined. Lots of mallards, pintails, even about 4400 Cans.  I saw a good number of honkers, but the numbers of those won't get real big till everything starts to freeze up and they come out of the mountains to the basin.  Saw very very few specks and only one small flock of snows.  I guess the specks are already at Sacramento NWR and the snows don't stop at Tule anymore as well.  They tend to blow right thru Klamath to the valley.  Monday it stormed like hell, it would have been a great day to go but down here in the balance of the state the season opens Halloween weekend.

I'd say I'm looking forward to the first freeze the most for down here.  Then all the mosquitoes are gone.
