Military loads/weights
« on: September 29, 2004, 06:15:48 AM »
Anyone know the "correct" bullet weight/ for the 7X57 and the 8x57 mausers?

My sources seem to disagree.
150 spritzer for the 8x57 and 175 round nose for the 7x57?

FWIW the 7x57 is a Chilain 95 and the 8x57 is a Yugo 24

196 and 154 grain in the 8x57
174 and 149 grain in 7x57
This can vary up to about 5 grains depending
on the metals used.

The yugo surplus FMJ 8MM is 196gr.  2,600fps, 2,942 ft.lbs.,   the surplus FN 7mm mauser stuff is 139gr 2,950fps,   2,580ft lbs.   Some of the Sellier & Bellot 7mm I have is 173gr.                         BigBill

I've been reloading some of my military calibers; swede 6,5  140gr. PSP REM Bullets,  7mm mauser  150gr PP winchester bullets.  The 8mm bullets are hard to find in low grains cheap for some reason all i see is 185gr. remington bullets.  If you plan on hunting with the 8MM I have read they sure do break/bust thru brush.
