Hey Bullet Maker,

Out of those seven classic Bigfoot encounters listed four happened to be in British Columbia. In fact, the Ruby Creek sighting took place about a half hour or so from where I'm sitting right now.

One of the encounters at Deroche that I mentioned in another post is about 15 minutes away from my house. That particular report happened to strike close to home in more than one way, as it involved my own youngest daughter and two of her friends.

When I went and investigated the exact area where their unexplained encounter took place, it was after a long hot spell so the ground was hard and dry and did not lend well to finding any kind of tracks. I did, however, manage to find one large, wide human-type track about 16 inches long that was pressed deeply into the soil on a fresh mound of dirt that was kicked up on an anthill far away from any trail.

I would also like to mention that the property where this occurred is full of old-growth forest (some trees are 8-feet across) and at the end of a gravel road with no further houses for miles.

If there is an elusive, intelligent and shy Sasquatch/Bigfoot and it wanted to hide from humans invading its territory, it would simply have to step behind any of these trees and quietly wait until all danger passed.

In thousands of hours of being in the woods and over 45-years of hunting throughout much of British Columbia I have only found Sasquatch tracks twice.

I certainly don't blame anybody for being skeptical about whether Bigfoot even exists.

Perhaps someday someone will get more film of the Sasquatch than Roger Patterson got way back in 1967?

Hi Ol Man Mountain :D
Care to relay the story, that happened to your daughter and her friends? I would be interested. Thanks

P.S. I know what you mean about them being able to hide, just like you said, all they got to do is step behind a big tree and wait till you go by. I have hear that a lot of times, that`s exactly what they do. And if people did see them, they would think that it was a knot on the tree, which would auctually be their head thats the knot  :-D watching them from behind the tree.

Hi Bullet Maker :D

Here's the complete story on reports I received about possible on-going Sasquatch activity from the isolated property outside of Deroche, British Columbia:

The summer of 1998 found a group of teenage boys preparing to have a campout on the rear of a private 18-acre piece of property located outside of Deroche, B.C. The boys had set up their tents in a glade that parents had cleared for this purpose (quite far away from the family home) inside the edge of the old-groth forest, which still remains quite wild and rugged, at the base of the Coast Range Mountains.

It was just shortly before dark, and all the boys were gathered around a small central campfire when something screamed at them with a huge volume from inside the edge of the forest. Whatever screamed at them could also be clearly heard pacing back and forth and breaking heavy branches inside the treeline.

In a follow-up conversation at my home, one of the boys described the warning-type scream as monkey-like with a volume that would be impossible for any human voice to duplicate without the assistance of an amplifier.

On June 30, 2003 we had another report of a possible Sasquatch encounter from the same above-mentioned property outside of Deroche, BC. According to the three scared witnesses who had wandered into a swampy and remote area of the property hardly ever visited by the residents, threatening high-pitched screams, the snapping sounds of heavy branches and strange, non-human mumbling or murmuring voices and other unintelligible sounds were heard after they stumbled upon a crudely built bed made out of old cedar boughs. The witnesses also claimed to have smelled a  very strong odor described as being a mixture of sulphur, rotten meat or eggs and human excrement.

On Tuesday, July 29th we had another report of possible on-going Sasquatch activity from the above-mentioned property owners outside Deroche, BC.  Shortly before dark the residents reported hearing extremely heavy footfalls outside that shook the entire house, scaring the females at home at the time quite badly. Shortly after this happened, two very loud high-pitched screams were heard coming from just inside the edge of the bush on their property. The sounds of the scream reportedly set off howling from some of the dogs on farms in the area. Shortly after dark the residents were driving towards town on a road in front of their property when a very large rock suddenly flew from heavy bush at the roadside and narrowly missed their vehicle.

Yet another report from outside Deroche, BC:

Hi my name is Christina and I live in Deroche, BC. The scream report that is on your site was it heard around 2 am? I was sleeping in a tent on my deck with my dog because it was so hot in the house when at around 2 am a weird very loud scream woke us both up and made us jump out of our skins. All the dogs as far off as I could hear were all barking for a while. Also I heard the same thing about a year ago while sitting in my computer room that faces the north. It too was around 2am in the morning.
Chris

We Investigate:

We had a chance to investigate the sighting report outside of Deroche and we were lucky enough to find one possible Sasquatch track measuring 16 inches in length by 6 inches in width. Due to the prolonged hot and dry spell of weather we have been having in the Fraser Valley, the ground in the area was hard and dry and did not lend well to making tracks - or tracking any animal at all. The single possible track we did find appeared to be leading away from what looked to be a crudely built nest or bedding area consisting of scattered cedar boughs, and was situated on the crest of a small knob of soft dirt. Most of the weight appeared to be placed on the toe area of the track as the foot pivoted and curled in a natural stepping motion over the top of the small mound of dirt. The big toe measured 3 inches in length and was impressed into the soil about one and one half inches deep. As this track was not flat and was in a rough area off the main trail, it did not appear to be faked.

We were very impressed with the age  and size of the trees in the old-growth forest (mixed red cedar, Douglas-fir, hemlock and various hardwoods, with some trees over 8 feet across) where the on-going sasquatch activity is taking place.  If a sasquatch wanted to hide in this old-growth forest I firmly believe it would be next to impossible to see it ... one step behind any one of a thousand of the huge trees would be all it would take for any intelligent animal to stay very well concealed.

I'll go into a little more detail for everyone's benefit about my youngest daughter's possible Sasquatch encounter as she relayed it to me crying and obviously very scared on the night it happened:
It was after dinner in the evening when my 15-year-old daughter, and two of her close friends (one female and one male) decided they wanted to go on a hike in towards the back of the property outside Deroche.  The area they hiked into was crisscrossed with many deer trails and apparently they got a little tangled up with their directions and exactly which trail would take them back towards the farmhouse. (Note: After I walked the property I thought this would be quite easy to do even for someone experienced in the bush.) With darkness quickly approaching they began to get scared about being stuck out in the woods. After finding the bed of cedar boughs, they all thought they were getting close to the house and decided to start yelling with the hopes that the parents at home at the time would hear them and answer back, thus pointing the right direction to walk. After yelling at the top of their lungs for a few minutes they could hear someone quickly and loudly approaching from above them on the hill. Apparently whatever it was circled them while screaming loudly and breaking big branches. They said they also smelled something terrible (as mentioned above) and heard strange mumbling or gibberish sounds (they could not understand what was being said) off in the bush like somebody quietly talking  under their breath. In any case, the screaming, branch breaking and mumbling sounds went on for some time. Their encounter suddenly ended when the parents at home eventually made their way up the trails with the help of a flashlight and began calling the kids names out.

I have no reason to believe my daughter and her friends would make something like this up. In fact, after I saw the shape they were all in once they got back home, I wholeheartedly believed they were telling the truth about what they experienced.

Hi Ol man mountain :D
Thanks for the story, and I`m sure your daughter will remember that event for along time to come. I myself have not ever heard the gibberish language, that they talk, but other of the group that I hunt with have. The scream--holler, I like to call it, is enough to scare the life out you, so I can imagine what they went through.

thanks for the story
