Recoil wise is there much of a difference?

While I haven't fired a .270 Maximum, I don't have to do it to know that the .35 will recoil significantly more with max loads in the same type gun.  The .270 fires lighter bullets with less powder in a heavier pistol (more steel in the barrel with the smaller hole).  Simple physics.  There are potential advantages to smaller diameter cases in the Contender, chiefly the ability to use higher chamber pressures safely.  Sometimes that difference allows more power, sometimes it does not.
