I found some new springs with the spring wire .006" bigger than the existing one which is .030". Another smaller one a perfect match to fit inside the main spring. This makes a lot better lock up and shrunk the groups to nearly 3/4" at 100m. This is more like a 25-06. I think a can give the rifle away now with no bad feelings. Fred M.

Fred, perhaps you could buy a bunch and sell them to those of us here that need them?....<><....

I am out in left field but why do you need stronger latch springs? :?
I do not have a 25-06, all that I do have don't brake open when fired
( NEF and H&R) am I missing some thing? Marv.

Ok you guys, this is not just a simple trip to the hardware store. I searched high and low for a suitable stronger spring, and so is Perklo. I found a piece of continoues spring in a spring shop that suited my specs. Enough to make about 6 springs.

To make a single foot of this spring to specs would cost about $40.00 enough to make 10 springs, the inside spring about the same price.
So the cost of the two springs is $8.00 plus mailing $1.00

Now say I ordered 1000 ft of this stuff these springs would be pretty cheap. Who wants 10000 springs?

I never considered selling springs, cutting them to length and shipping them all over to god knows where. After hunting season I might make some available if there is enought intrest.

Some people at this point don't even know what difference a stronger latch spring makes in their Handi.

Besides the the modification requires the peening of the latch seat. See my revised web page, I have beeen adding stuff to it as it comes up.

I should be charging money for all this free advise. But heck I would only spend it on some more useless guns to keep me bussy.  Fred M.
