I bought a BSA Sweet 17, here's what I learned
« on: October 02, 2004, 08:13:06 AM »
I have only owned cheap optics in the past. I gathered some imformation here as to what scope to by for a 22 bolt action. I looked at several scopes recomended here. These were the bushnell elite 3200 3-9, Nikon pro staff 3-9, along with a fixed power nikon. The problem all of them shared was that at different power setting and/ or yardages either the reticle or the target object would be out of focus. I was especially dissapointed in that on both of the high quality variables the crosshairs were very blurry at the anything above about 5-6 power. I then tried a BSA sweet 17. It had an adjustable objective and would adjust from 10-250 yards, focus problem solved. Well I have looked through the BSA outdoors here at home now and it is not very clear at the higher powers, and it's light gathering is a little weak, I'm still very happy with it. What I did learn is that you must be sure to get BOTH a high quality scope AND the features that best suit the intended usage. I needed an adjustable objective, Next time I will purchase a Nikon, Bushnell Elite, or Leupold, as advised here, however I will be very discriminating as to what Features I want. Thanks for all the help, I hope maybe this will help someone else.
