I just got an Onieda Eagle bow (one of the older ones) and need some help setting it up. I put on string silencers, stablizer and got it sighted in, but it is extremely noisy. Has anyone ever put string silencers on the two cables that run to the cams to try to quite the bow? Itried cranking up the weight and using heavier arrows, but it is still noisy. Any help out there? I plan to hunt with this bow if I can quite it down, but have a couple of other bows I can use if I can't get the bugs worked out of this bow. Thanks, Worm.

Old time Oneida user here. What type of string silencers are you using? I have found the best type to quiet the slap of the string on Oneida bows is with a Bear Puff silencers. Leave the cables alone. That is not where the noise is coming from. What weight is the bow set for and what arrow weight are you using(also length)? Lawdog

The bow right now is set at around 60 pounds and I'm using 2117 shafts that weigh around 550 grains. The arrows are 30" long nock to insert. I'm using cat whisker silencers. The stablizer is nothing more than a chunk of threaded steel that came with the bow. I had one of these bows when they first came out and remember putting some felt in the cable channel to make it quiter. That was some 20 years ago. Worm

I have been shooting Oneida bows for a long time. My first compound bow was an Oneida Eagle. Next came a Strike Eagle then an Aero Force and now I have two Black Eagles. I use an Ace Hydraulic Stabilizer that I ordered from Golden Key Futura, http://www.goldenkeyarchery.com/ on all the families bows(all Oneida shooters). They do help absorb bow shock and torque thus reducing vibrations and noise. I have never gotten Spider Legs or Cat Whiskers to work as far as taming string vibration. Like I said only puff type string silencers have ever worked for us. I believe you are also shooting the wrong weight arrow. Go to

2413, 2315, 2219 depending on what weight head youre using) would be a better choice according to the Easton chart. Lawdog
