Well I finally finished my .32 flinter sort of, I'm not happy with the exterior of the barrel, so I'm going to have to finish re-polishing it out and try another browning solution, the rest of it is absolutely beautiful, nice wood and good wood to metal fit. The flint is giving a good shower of sparks into the pan, and it looks like all systems are go for tomorrow, on it's trial run. Anyway I'll attack that barrel at a later date.

The only really disappointing part of the Pedersoli kit is they provided bronze colored screws for the butt plate, patchbox, and trigger guard rear screw. Kind of tacky, so I ran up to the local hardware store and got some brass screws, sure dressed it up.

As you can tell I'm anxious to get out and see how she shoots. Enough spouting off, I'll let ya know tomorrow how it stacks up. RR

That's good news River Runner! I'm still working on my first "from scratch Flinter". If the Post Office will stop breaking things, I may be able to finish it before next deer season. :x

So I can avoid problems, what browning compound are you using and why didn't you like it?

I used the Birchwood Casey, Plum brown, and it appeared it had been left on the shelf too long if that's possible, anyway it didn't take real well, and looks a rusted blue rather than a plum brown or patina. I've used that before on a Kentucky .45 and heated the barrel with a propane torch, and it came out really nice. I'm going to order that stuff from Brownell's and see how that works. Sounds like your a bit more industrious than I am, I have a hard enough time with the kits-good luck, would like to hear how yours comes out. RR

You may want to look at the browning solutions that Track of the Wolf has. They take a lot longer to use but you get a true rust brown instead of the bright plum brown I've gotten from BC.
