What is a 25 acp conversion,not the pistsol rounnd i hope?

Come to the Modern inline Muzzleloader section here on Graybeard and you will find a lot of discussion on it.

I did the conversion because I was having a hard time reloading the second round after firing triple7 with the 209 primer. I got a crud ring. Now with the 25ACP conversion I do not have that problem and my accuracy improved.

In my encore, it helps but does not totally eliminate it. My gun does shoot better with the conversion though.

In my wolverine, I am shooting a #11 cap and I get the crud ring a little also.

I swap between shots and there is no seating problem.

It sure did, I get very little now. I still like to use the Bore Butter though. Makes the bullet go down the barrel a little easier.

I couldn't help but notice the reference to 777, crud ring and bore butter.

I am assuming that you are using the modern equivalent of black powder and are experiencing hard fouling. If that's the case, have you ever considered or tried 'real' black powder? I'm certain that it's less expensive and I know it performs very well in cartridge rifles.

Another choice is to use a damp patch to reduce fouling between shots if time and inclination permit.

I need two- one for the RCBS hand primer, and one for the Handiprime (I think that's what it's called :oops: ) Where can I get those? The .25 doesn't seem to be exactly widely reloaded and the suppliers I have checked out are out of them.
Suggestions, anyone??

I got both of my shell holders ( one for the lee auto prime and one for my rcbs press for decapping purposes) directly from Lee. Cost and shipping were about the same as from the reloading supply houses.

I have tried it and it shot poorly in my Muzzleloader (Encore). I use it in my 45-70 for my Shiloh Sharps though. Also black powder does not preform like the triple7 and a big mess to clean up. I us the 25ACP to get rid of the crud ring and better accuracy and the bore butter for ease of loading.

I'm surprised, but trust your experience. I have found that black powder performed better than pyrodex or 777 in my cartridges (43 Span, 43 Mauser, 45-70 and 50-70). The trapdoor is the only one that's a PITA to clean. I don't like the rod coming in from the muzzle. Then, there's the price differential.

It's interesting that there's such a difference between ML vs cartridges loaded using black powder. Perhaps the cartridge generates higher pressures?

I would not shoot anything other than black powder in my Shiloh Sharps. I have work up great loads with the black powder. But my Encore loves triple7. I can't argue with success.
