I was wonderin if anyone has any experience shooting .35 200gr hornady interlocks on whitetailed deer? They shoot well enough, and I was thinkin on trying one out but figured why not ask since you all were here. Thanks in advance.

Have shot several deer with that bullet. It really does the trick. I shot a large doe (170 lbs) last year at about 200 yards with that bullet and it went right down. That was out of the 336. I have also used that bullet with the 35 Whelen. Deer just dont move.

Thanks Big Med. thats just what I was hoping to hear. Have you recovered any of the bullets? If not, how are the exits? I am shooting out of the 336 but am certainly needing something chambered in the whelen.

I have yet to recover a bullet. The exit wounds with the 336 are a little bigger than thumb size, with the whelen.....that is a whole nother story! The last deer I shot with that bullet was a quartering shot facing away. the exit wound on the far shoulder was an oblong egg shaped hole about 5 inches in length and 3 inches wide.

There is quite a bit of difference in velocity. My 35 Rem 200 gr is going out at 2056 FPS and the Whelen 200 gr at 2880 FPS. But both deer were just as dead.

Point taken!! I will definitely give them a try thanks. Maybe I'll get something chambered in the whelen next week :wink: THanks again.

Toecutter, Why would you need a 35 whelen for deer? I would stick with the 35 rem. Regards, Byron

Sorry, I guess I was a little fuzzy on my explanation, pastorp. I don't need the whelen for deer, I just NEED the whelen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :eek: :-D
I've always wanted one, It's just cool, kinda like the .35 rem.
