Ruger Question
« on: October 06, 2004, 02:11:15 AM »
Hi all, I should know this but I've developed a case of CRN (can't remember nothing!) Anyway, are the new Ruger M77 MKII Magnum rifles and the Express rifles controlled round feeding rifles? I've got a line on one in .375 H&H with the most beautifully figured stock I've ever seen and a matching Express rifle in 30-06. Thanks for your help... CEJ
If I can't take my rifles with me, I don't want to go!

I believe it's a variation on CRF that has some of the strength advantages of push feed and the controlled round feed advantage of the Winchester.  In any case, they're highly regarded among hunters of dangerous game. See www.accuratereloading.com and go to the big bores or african hunting forums.

I think you need a password to post there, so I put your post there in Big Bores under my handle of Questor. Subject is "Question about Ruger Magnum feeding"

Questor - I thought that I'd just give you an update on the Ruger's. I missed the .375  :x , someone bought it before I could even put a bid on it!  I did manage to get the Express rifle though! Excellent fit and finish and it gets to come home with me tonight!   Thanks again for your help... CEJ P.S. That question you posted for me on that other forum sure started some donnybrook!

CEJ1895:

Too bad about the Ruger. I've read almost nothing but good about them. It seems to be regarded as their best rifle.  But it sounds like you got something you like, and that's what's important.  I hope it works out well.

It appears that every question starts a donnybrook on that forum. I found it recently when looking for places where big bores are discussed, and there is some good discussion there-- particularly if you look for topics on bullet performance in big game.   But for the most part, it's pretty worthless because of the excessive blithering.
