varmit/deer load?

I've been using 100gr BT's in my 25-06 for years but during this years varmit shooting I used some reloads from 1999 that are loaded with a 75gr HP. This load is very fast and very accurate for me. Hits at 400 yards are very common. (something uncommon for your average deer rifle) I've grown very fond of this 75gr and am seriously considering it for the upcomming deer season. I know bullets weighing 100gr are perfect for deer but. Am I crazy for thinking this? I don't take anything but broadside shots so I'm not worried about blow up. I need your input here.

Im from the school of thought that bullet placement is one of the highest factors on the list.  many prong horn hunters out west say a 70 gr. boattail is the best thing to use on prong horns, I dont see a big size difference bettween a prong and an average whitetail.  Ive talked to a few old-timers who often took whitetails with 22 long rifle. like I said, shot placement!  I think 75 gr. is just fine for deer.  But thats me.  I understand some of them varmit bullets are designed to blow up/ shatter on impact. Id just make sure the 75 gr. bullet is designed to mushroom. Thats just my worthless  opinion, but Id really like to here some other ideas!

I've used 100's for deer and really had great success. I used the 75's for ground hogs here in Md ,they are fast but explosive. I shot a small doe (crop damage) with the75 at just under 100 yards. She did not go far,but the meat was mostly ruined! Blod shot every where.Entry hole was about a half inch and got bigger inside. I got both hips and a part of the
tender loins and the neck.Imight use one again IF the range was 100-200 yards,but not on a trophy buck .
